Traditional Casket Burial Options
When you choose a traditional casket burial you’ll have several options:
Traditional Single Casket Burial Graves
One vault. With an above ground grave marker or headstone.
Single depth plots can accommodate a one casket interment and are often suitable for direct descendant cremation in the future.
Side-by-Side Casket Burial Graves
Two plots. Two vaults. With one or two above ground grave markers or headstones.
Most of these plots are suitable for direct descendant cremation in the future.
Double-Depth Casket Burial Graves (one on top of the other)
One plot. Two vaults. Double depth plots can accommodate two casket interments in the space of a single plot. One above ground grave marker or headstone.
These are often not suitable for direct descendant cremations.
Both vaults will need to be bought together, as the second is placed at the time of the first interment.
The opening and closing fee for the initial interment of double depth plots is more, as it is more labor intensive.
Cremation and Casket Burial in the Same Grave
Two vaults. One above ground grave marker or headstone, subsequent marker(s) are flush with the grass.
Important Things To Keep in Mind
Here are some important things to keep in mind with traditional burials:
- Plots can be single or double depth depending on the circumstances.
- All traditional burial plots require vaults for the caskets.
- The opening and closing fee can only be paid at the time of need.
- Double depth plots are often not suitable for direct descendant cremations in the future.
- A casket cart is available for hire if pallbearers are an issue. Four people are still usually required, but only for casket loading and unloading.
- The primary marker or headstone for a grave must be above ground and set on a concrete or granite pad.
Casket Burial Vaults
Burial vaults for caskets can be purchased as a preneed option, or at the time of need.
All of our traditional burial plots are vaulted to help your plots stay looking their best, and for everyone’s safety.
All traditional casket burials require vaults, either traditional concrete or a composite material. Both styles of vaults serve the same purpose and offer the same strength.
Double depths vaults are concrete.
